Lovely things I wish I could afford

29 June

1. Grey Knit Sweat from Miss Selfridge, 2. Hand Tee by Tee and Cake from Topshop, 3. Leopard Print Holdall from Dorothy Perkins 4. Double-Wrap Leather Watch by Michael Kors 5. Steve Madden "Karisma" Jeweled Bow Flats from Overstock (these are sold out at the moment :()

I can't wait until I'm earning again, there is so much on my wish list at the moment (thank youuuu Pinterest and having too much time on my hands!).  I've already mentally spent my pay cheque for the next three months.  Am viewing two flats tomorrow, exciting :D x

This week so far

This week I've been a little bit bored.  Being in Portsmouth isn't so fun now all of my friends have gone home (miss you friends :(!) and I'm spending the days watching Lost (first time I've watched it and I'm on season 2), slowly cleaning our flat and refreshing the Right Move website waiting for new flats to appear in the town where I'll be working.

I went into uni on Monday to pick up my marked coursework and get my personal tutor David's contact details to give as a reference.  I am so glad I went into see him because he always manages to lift my spirits.  I think I've been very lucky to have such a great personal tutor, he's definitely inspired me and helped me stay motivated throughout my final year and it meant so much to hear him say he was proud of me.  He was also Wills personal tutor last year and lives very near our home town (small world!). Will has a great picture of him with David from his graduation last summer so maybe I can get a matching one this year :).

Monday evening was a bit of a disaster, we decided to go for Sushi but we didn't get very far as Will's car broke down reversing out of our driveway blocking our entire one-way road.  The front right-hand wheel had come out of place as we came down the steep pavement in front of our flat completely immobilising the car so it had to be recovered and taken to the mechanics.  We felt very panicky that evening as it looked so serious and we were worried it was going to cost a lot to fix, luckily it looked a lot worse than it was and Wills car is back and working again (yay!).

I've also baked the best cake I've ever baked this week - I am not a baker and have made more disastrous cakes than delicious ones so this was a proud moment for me :)  I followed this recipe for a Lemon and Strawberry Victoria Sponge from the BBC website.

Tomorrow will most likely include more Lost watching, a bit more cleaning, some cake eating and possibly a flat viewing :)

Hope everyone's having a good week!

So I'm pretty happy :)

Hey friends :)

Well it's fair to say I've been pretty excited since Friday because I got the job!!!!  Yes, I am now going to be a marketing executive for a small market research agency - this is exactly the job I wanted and I am over the moon!  Thank you everyone for the encouraging words, crossed fingers, positive thoughts and prayers. I love you all :)

For Will and I this means we are looking for a new flat as it is too long a commute from where we are now.  We are a little nervous about finding somewhere soon, especially since Will can't take any holiday off work because he's the only person in his team not on hols for the next two weeks!

Today has spent wandering around the shops in Basingstoke, I bought myself a pretty top from Zara to celebrate my new job but I think I could have bought nearly the whole shop - so many beautiful clothes in there at the moment!

Hope everyone's enjoying the weekend.

Oh darling, today has been good!

Do you ever do something and immediately after think "well why didn't I do this sooner"?

Today I met for coffee with a friend that I've not seen for 5 whole years and really I can't think why we hadn't met up sooner.  I guess life just works like that sometimes.  I am so very glad that we went for coffee today and I am going not going to leave it so long next time.
Women's Royal Naval Service move a torpedo for loading into a submarine at Portsmouth.
I've been looking after my boyfriends 97 year old grandma while his parents are away on holiday.  She is so lovely to me and makes me miss my own grandparents so much, she also uses really cute phrases like "Oh darling!" and "Crikey O'Riley", old people are so cool!  She has had such an interesting life, she used to work for 20th Century Fox (known then as Fox Film Corporation) and volunteered for the Wrens during the second world war where she worked as a Royal Navy cinema operator.  I searched her name on Google and their is a 7 year old Daily Mail article interviewing her about her time as a Wren which she had no idea existed!

Were your grandparents alive during the war?

The times they are a-changin'!

So just over a month ago the life I had been living for the past three years came to an end.  University had finished and I was officially unemployed.  This picture was taken the day I received the mark for my final year research project and found out that I had achieved a first in my degree, I was beyond happy this day :)
Now I am frantically searching for a job, my bank balance is in a very unhealthy state and it looks like I'll have to hand in my notice for the cute little flat I share with my boyfriend.  Sometimes I panic, I don't want my life to change, I'm really going to miss my friends and my lifestyle!  But then I am looking forward to getting a job and it's not all doom and gloom - I've had 3 interviews and 2 second interviews so hopefully it won't be long until something comes up.  I also have graduation and grad ball to look forward to :)
I just hate not having a plan!  It freaks me out not even knowing where I'll be living in a months time and I can't stand the idea of being overdrawn, oh how great it would be to be carefree!

Hello

New blog - lets see how long this lasts!
