Settling in at a new job...my mission to become a digital mastermind ;)

So maybe you've heard through the grapevine that I've got a new job :D

I am now working as digital marketing manager for a web and digital agency.  So I've only been just started but already my head is buzzing with all these things I need to clue myself up on digital wise.

Luckily there seem to be so so many free resources out there on digital marketing and SEO blogs and twitter seems to be abundant with experts sharing links to good resources-  who would've guessed digital marketers are so well connected ;)

I will keep this post up to date with useful things I find...

Putting pen to paper - my love for lists

Sometimes it's nice just to write things down.  Maybe it's just me but things just feel a bit more real once they are on paper.  Like maybe if I write it down I will do it, y'know..

So we sat in Starbucks this afternoon and wrote lists - many lists - a shopping list, list of healthy foods, list of bad eating habits, list of good ideas, birthday present list (most important one of course!) and Christmas present list - I feel so Christmassy already and can't wait until its time to put the tree and decorations up!!

I also have the coolest new fine tip pens, I'm carrying them round in my handbag so I can always write in pretty colours :) aren't the simple things in life great?

Hope everyone's having an awesome weekend so far... Tomorrow we are tidying the flat, food shopping, trying out a recipe from our new slower cooker recipe book and preparing dinner for when we see our lovely friends on Monday.  Life is sweet :)

Putting things into perspective

Bf text me earlier saying "seriously life is just so shit right now there is literally nothing going good".  For sure we've just had one of those weeks and it is so easy to agree with him.  The big order he made at the weekend got cancelled so he won't get paid much commission this month, there's something wrong with his car and it has to be seen by a diesel specialist (£££) and the flats we keep booking viewings in for keep getting let before we even get a chance to see them.  This week has felt so tedious.

I phoned my dad yesterday and had a cry over the phone; it was good to get it all out but rather than being comforting my dads response was "why are you being so silly".  My dad didn't mean to trivialise my problems, but he just pointed out that really I have nothing to worry about and although moving house is one of the most stressful things you can do, the only reason I'm doing it is that I've got a job - one of my biggest worries a few weeks ago was not being able to get a job.  If the problems I have are likely to not matter in a months time then I really am luckier than most.  Really I have exactly what I wanted and should be feeling blessed rather then letting the little bumps in the road get to me.  Sometimes you just need someone to put things into perspective :)

Silly me

Hi Becca,
This post is a reminder to you not to dye your hair dark brown again - you were doing so well at growing it out! You don't like it this colour and you hate that red tinge that always shows up after a few washes.  Don't do it again you silly billy.
Talk to you soon.
Love from yourself :)

This week so far

This week I've been a little bit bored.  Being in Portsmouth isn't so fun now all of my friends have gone home (miss you friends :(!) and I'm spending the days watching Lost (first time I've watched it and I'm on season 2), slowly cleaning our flat and refreshing the Right Move website waiting for new flats to appear in the town where I'll be working.

I went into uni on Monday to pick up my marked coursework and get my personal tutor David's contact details to give as a reference.  I am so glad I went into see him because he always manages to lift my spirits.  I think I've been very lucky to have such a great personal tutor, he's definitely inspired me and helped me stay motivated throughout my final year and it meant so much to hear him say he was proud of me.  He was also Wills personal tutor last year and lives very near our home town (small world!). Will has a great picture of him with David from his graduation last summer so maybe I can get a matching one this year :).

Monday evening was a bit of a disaster, we decided to go for Sushi but we didn't get very far as Will's car broke down reversing out of our driveway blocking our entire one-way road.  The front right-hand wheel had come out of place as we came down the steep pavement in front of our flat completely immobilising the car so it had to be recovered and taken to the mechanics.  We felt very panicky that evening as it looked so serious and we were worried it was going to cost a lot to fix, luckily it looked a lot worse than it was and Wills car is back and working again (yay!).

I've also baked the best cake I've ever baked this week - I am not a baker and have made more disastrous cakes than delicious ones so this was a proud moment for me :)  I followed this recipe for a Lemon and Strawberry Victoria Sponge from the BBC website.

Tomorrow will most likely include more Lost watching, a bit more cleaning, some cake eating and possibly a flat viewing :)

Hope everyone's having a good week!

So I'm pretty happy :)

Hey friends :)

Well it's fair to say I've been pretty excited since Friday because I got the job!!!!  Yes, I am now going to be a marketing executive for a small market research agency - this is exactly the job I wanted and I am over the moon!  Thank you everyone for the encouraging words, crossed fingers, positive thoughts and prayers. I love you all :)

For Will and I this means we are looking for a new flat as it is too long a commute from where we are now.  We are a little nervous about finding somewhere soon, especially since Will can't take any holiday off work because he's the only person in his team not on hols for the next two weeks!

Today has spent wandering around the shops in Basingstoke, I bought myself a pretty top from Zara to celebrate my new job but I think I could have bought nearly the whole shop - so many beautiful clothes in there at the moment!

Hope everyone's enjoying the weekend.
